Vantage Point by Aspiro - Outdoor Adventure Schedule

When students first arrive at Vantage Point by Aspiro, they are met by our adventure guides and taken to get a physical examination and to get outdoor gear and clothing. They then go to our base camp, where they will typically spend two to seven days getting adjusted to life in the outdoors.

During this initial phase, we focus on teaching and practicing outdoor living skills. When the student is ready to live safely in the outdoors, they go to their group.

Parents are strongly encouraged to attend a two to three day family workshop sometime during their child’s stay.

The workshop is one of the great highlights for students, their parents and for us too!

We typically have two days of workshops with parents and their child together, and also enjoy good food and fun activities including climbing or high ropes course activities.

The weekly schedule at Vantage Point by Aspiro varies a little, but generally follows a set schedule.

The schedule sometimes varies due to different conditions and group needs. Each week typically involves one to three days in base camp and the rest of the week out on adventure outings across the state of Utah.

Typically, base camp days start Tuesday afternoon and go through Thursday morning.

Wednesday is a busy day involving feedback sessions with staff, individual therapy, group therapy, group discussions, staffing exchange and preparation for the week ahead. While in base camp, students eat a hot Dutch oven cooked meal, get new food and supplies for the week, get letters from parents, turn in letters they have written, turn in academic assignments they have completed and exchange dirty laundry for clean laundry.

Thursdays at times involve indoor and/or outdoor climbing and the group may even travel to different locations.

The rest of the week, typically Friday through Tuesday, the students are “on the trail” backpacking and participating in other outdoor adventure activities. We often backpack one to ten miles in a day depending on many factors. We are usually backpacking through very scenic areas to an exciting and beautiful destination for a planned adventure activity. We see the very best Utah has to offer.

Utah contains many outdoor adventure activities and is a popular destination for world traveling adventure enthusiasts!

We also usually stop each week at a Utah State Park facility that has hot showers.

Since we spend so much time enjoying public lands, a big component of our program is teaching and practicing respect for the outdoors. We practice low impact camping. We also engage in occasional service projects with state parks and other public land agencies. It’s our way of giving back and fostering positive relationships with those who have stewardship over public lands.
