Vantage Point by Aspiro - Student Safety in the Wilderness

Minimizing risks to safety is the most important aspect of any reputable outdoor program.

Our existence depends on our ability to minimize risks. We hire only qualified professional field guides who have passed background checks and have demonstrated the ability to fulfill their job requirements with integrity and above all –SAFETY.

Commumication EquipmentWe have the latest communications equipment from satellite phones to GPS navigation systems.

We also have detailed emergency plans in place, including coverage at all times by life-flight helicopters. We don’t cut corners when it comes to equipment; therefore, your child will be outfitted appropriately for seasonal environmental elements.

Diet is another area where we don’t take the low road. On the trail, students are offered high-end, healthy backpacking food with ample daily caloric intake (3,000 calories per day minimum), as well as proper hydration with water and Gatorade. At a minimum, students are given fresh fruits and vegetables at least twice a week. While at base camp, students have hot Dutch Oven meals which will supplement their diet –always a welcomed event!

Also at base camp, students receive a physical exam by an EMT or an RN to ensure proper hygiene, diet and overall health. Finally, we are constantly training our staff on emergency preparedness and how to deal with every imaginable scenario. Your child’s safety is our overwhelming priority.

All staff are CPR and First Aid trained. Many of our staff are Wilderness First Responder trained, as well as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). Vantage Point by Aspiro also works closely with local nurses and doctors to provide the best level of care available.
