Vantage Point by Aspiro - Adventure & Recreation Therapy - A Model That Works!

We all understand that engaging in physical activities, learning new skills and overcoming fears builds confidence. At Vantage Point by Aspiro we aim for a specific kind of confidence; self efficacy, the belief that one can overcome obstacles and achieve desired outcomes in their life.

Using recreational therapy theory, our professional therapeutic adventure guides use adventure activities for specific purposes. We might use rock climbing to build general confidence, but more specifically, we use rock climbing to achieve desired results with specific students. For example, a student who struggles with trust issues will experience how important it is to work with your climbing partner in checking knots and helping and trusting your climbing partner. A student with difficulty regulating their emotions will be asked to climb a very difficult climb and assisted in dealing productively with the frustrations that result. A student who avoids intimidating situations will be guided through a serious of increasingly challenging experiences and assisted in recognizing how much better it feels to face fears than to avoid them.
