Vantage Point by Aspiro - Functional Assessment and Formal Evaluation in the Wilderness Setting

Two kinds of assessment occur within Vantage Point by Aspiro, functional assessment and formal evaluations. 

 
Functional Assessment:
The functional level of each student will be evaluated continuously during their participation in the program. Outdoor adventure programming and activities provide unparalleled opportunities to assess strengths and needs in all areas, including social, cognitive, self care, physical, emotional, academic, problem solving and others. Students are challenged daily in ways that highlight their strengths and needs in a very safe, efficient manner. 


We will get to know your child very well, in a very short period of time. 

Then we will communicate with parents and involved professionals about the indications of our functional assessment, including recommendations for further needs.

Formal Evaluation:
A multidisciplinary approach is very important for holistic understanding of each child and creation of successful treatment planning. At Vantage Point by Aspiro, we facilitate and integrate formal assessments onsite or in the community. We have specialists who travel to our base camp to conduct formal evaluations and participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning. Onsite evaluation services including psychological, neuropsychological, academic and speech and language assessments. 

 

Other specialized evaluations are available in the surrounding communities. 

Utah, particularly Salt Lake City, has cutting edge medical services and specialists in every area. We have the ability to have your child evaluated by physicians, psychiatrists, neurologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, etc. We have been very successful in meeting specialized medical or assessment needs. We have also been very successful in integrating these off-site evaluations into the daily program goals and in specific recommendations for future assistance. 

Any formalized evaluations, whether on site or off, are billed separately from the daily program tuition. Formal evaluations are only conducted with permission from parents and costs are discussed prior to initiating the evaluation.
